Red Hot

A few weeks ago I purchased a groupon for 10 classes at Red Hot Yoga studio.  Three other friends purchased one as well and we were all really excited to amp up our yoga experience to the hot yoga level.  So yesterday, after giving A’s dog a bath (see yesterday’s post), I got into my little yoga outfit and went to my first class.  We walked into the 108 degree room (literally 108…apparently good for extra stretch and a higher heart rate) and I felt like I had walked into a wet blanket.  It was humid and hot- exactly like a sauna.  About 10 minutes in to the 90 minute class I had to stop because I was literally about to vomit on the floor.  So I left the room to lay down in the slightly less hot locker room for a few minutes.  As soon as I regained my strength, I went back into the class only to spend most of the time sitting on the floor and doing the easy poses.  It was INSANE seeing how the people in the class were so good and impervious to heat and pain.  We talked in the car on the way home about how this type of yoga is so much more mental than normal…nausea is actually very controllable I guess if you think yourself out of it.  Needless to say, had I not already bought the 10 classes I would never go back…but I gots to get mah monies worth…so we shall see how far I can push my angry body in the weeks ahead!  One thing that was nice is that my skin feels really clean because I sweat so much… We shall see if I improve.
