The Presence of Trees
by Michael S. Glaser
I have always felt the living presence of trees
the forest that calls to me as deeply as I breathe,
as though the woods were marrow of my bone as though
I myself were tree, a breathing, reaching arc of the larger canopy
beside a brook bubbling to foam like the one
deep in these woods, that calls
that whispers home

Red Hot
A few weeks ago I purchased a groupon for 10 classes at Red Hot Yoga studio. Three other friends purchased one as well and we were all really excited to amp up our yoga experience to the hot yoga level. So yesterday, after giving A’s dog a bath (see yesterday’s post), I got into my little yoga outfit and went to my first class. We walked into the 108 degree room (literally 108…apparently...
On House Sitting...
My fiancé (henceforth referred to as “A”) is on vacation with his entire family in Boston this week – a nice little break before school starts back. He lives with his sister and brother-in-law in a big old house about 2 miles away from my house- so it is always fun family time- and they have an adorable dog who we will call Fluffer for the sake of keeping her true identity private. Generally...
it has been a hot minute...
since I have posted on here. But fear not! I am still around. And I am engaged to my man. And I have a new job. So there is definately more fodder for blogging.
On engagement: It is the best. My mom asked me a few months ago (when she knew A was going to propose but before she spilled the beans to me) if I thought he was the one and how I knew. I thought about it and decided that this is...

Tonight the moon is a cracker, with a bite out of it floating in the night, and in a week or so according to the calendar it will probably look like a silver football, and nine, maybe ten days ago it reminded me of a thin bright claw. But eventually — by the end of the month, I reckon — it will waste away to nothing, nothing but stars in the sky, and I will have a few nights to...

A Letter From A Third Grader
One of the perks of my job… these are two letters from third graders in Atlanta in response to learning about homelessness…
Hello my name is (redacted) and I am 9 years old. I am writing to you because I want to stop homelessness. It just makes me sad seeing all these homeless people out on the streets. Some people aren’t comfortable around them because they don’t look like us. We...

Press your hand to this blessing, here along the side where you can feel its seam.
Follow the seam and you will find the hinges on which this blessing turns.
Feel how your fingers catch on them— top, bottom, the slightest pressure sending the gate gliding open in a glad welcome.
I keep changing things
on accident. I have been working on a tumblr blog for my boss to use as a replacement for his current blogspot that he uses as work blog and I have been inadvertently changing my own theme every five minutes. Yikes. Now I forgot what my blog used to look like…

Even though I went to bed ridiculously early for me last night in attempts at a full nights rest, my body has once again duped me. I slept until about 12:30, up a half hour, then until 2, up, then until 4, up, then until 5. I think my mind was under the impression I was napping. I couldn’t…

Me: What does that mean?
Coworker: It was May the fourth.
